How to reset 3D camera view

I can never use the orbit camera tool because there seems to be no way to reset it after using for a quick view of things. After using the tool the Composition stays at the new view with no way to reset it.
PLEASE, don't tell me to just choose "view>reset 3D view" because that is always greyed out. Seems there should be a warning saying something like "using this tool will completely change your compositions view with no way of fixing it. So is there an After Effects genius only fix for this ridiculous problem?

When I work in 3D I use at least 2 viewers, one for the active camera and the other for a custom view. How many viewers are you using?

Just need to know how to reset the view

Just need to know how to reset the view

Who knows this.

No question was asked about how to use more than one camera view. The Only question I need answered before I go postal is:

HOW DO YOU RESET THE CAMERA VIEW?
There's a couple ducks walking around my neighborhood and I may have to go step on them if I can't resolve this.

Are you really that dense that you don't know how to reset a layer? RTFM or step on some effing ducks.

Any transform setting of the camera can be Reseated; "Right Mouse Button" over the name of the transform setting (Position, Orientation, XYZ Rotation, Opacity, etc) the name is at right side of the stopwatch, choose "Reset" in the menu.

Cheers

Make sure when you set your camera you select the 3d layer box on the selected layer. It looks like a cube near the timeline. Then set layer...new...new camera. Then you can use the camera tool up above on that layer. If you don't like it. Just delete the layer or right mouse click like the previous post said.

I just went back a step because I'm not sure what level you're at. Also you can check this out...

It shows you how to create a dolly for more control of the camera using a null.

It gives a better way to set cameras in after effects. Hope this helps.

Reset the camera view from what? Your previous position, or back to the center of a 2D field? If the previous position, just delete your new keyframes. If back to your starting position, just cut the camera off and start a new camera. It'll begin at the origin like your old one.

If I have a big project, I create an extra camera to use to move things around with, then shut it off when not needed.
