The built-in microphone holder on the Panasonic DVX200 does not clamp down tight enough to make contact with my shotgun mic, the Rode NTG-3. In the fully-clamped position, the Rode slides back and forth with ease.
I also tried inserting a Sennheiser MKE-600 (which is slightly thicker than the NTG-3) into the holder, but the holder doesn't grip the Sennheiser tightly, either.
I realize that I can buy a dedicated cold-shoe-mounted mic shockmount, but I do not want to add that additional height to my rig.
Do I have no choice but to wrap my $700 mic with tape to thicken it up a bit? This feels hacky. But I can't seem to find a spacer product that is designed for this application.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
