How to mic interviews for my documentary

If I'm shooting multiple subjects I am gonna use my Rode NTG2 as a boom. My question is when I'm shooting one subject in front of a green/blue screen in a reasonable controlled environment should I use my boom or should I get a lavaliere mic?

Lav audio is much more accepted in a seated interview than it is in dramatic work. Your best bet may be to do both, record split-channel, and pick the best in post.

I agree with CV2, and would add that if you have to choose one, use the boom. I'll usually put the mic on a stand if the person is sitting.

When you say split channel do you mean the boom on the left and the lav on the right? something like that?

Thanks,
GLB

Exactly like that. Whenever possible, record any and all mics to separate channels. That gives you complete control in post. If you record two mics, but have them mixed, you're stuck with whatever you record.
