How to match fotage to dvx footage with squeeze on

hey. i hope i can be clear with this. i have edited a video. it was filmed using the squeeze turned on so that there are letter boxes. my sequence in fcp is set up as 720x480. all is good. when i bring in footage i have created in after effects, set to 720x480. it becomes alll squished vertically. i am really confused on what fcp has going on the background to make this happen and if anyone understand your help will be deeply appreciated. i just need my 720x480 footage to open up and math the aspect ratio of my fcp sequences. THANKS!

The way that FCP shows "anamorphic" video (I know that you said you didnt actually shoot anamorphic but squeeze mode yeilds the same result from FCP's point of view) is that it takes the vertically stretched footage (from squeeze mode) and displays it in a way that un-stretches it. It doesn't actually un-stretch the footage, it only displays it this way.

It seems to me that your export settings in after effects are wrong. You said that you are exporting as 720x480 but what aspect ratio out of after effects. It needs to be set at an anamorphic aspect ratio (not standard DV ratio of 3:2) to acheive the same ratio in FCP as your other footage. Your export settings from AE need to use and aspect ratio that stretches the footage vertically, just like the squeeze mode on the DVX.
