How to make inanimate objects fly across a room

I have a sequence in a kitchen that requires cupboard doors to open by themselves and cups, plates and appliances to thrust themselves from the benchtop across the room as if knocked off by a ghost (of sorts, not exactly).

Does anyone know of any flicks that have examples of this effect and/or can explain the techniques to be used to achieve this.

you could try and find some stock foootage that has these thing and key it in.

I think you're right...it was low tech wasn't it? Someone off screen throwing the stuff in front of the camera if memory serves

With proper editing I think the low tech method can work
