How to make a good black, in the darkness, without noise?

How to make a good black, in the darkness, without noise with a prosumer camcorder or dslr?
Please tips and advice, from the equipment to the setting, to the lighting and post-production.
Which are the best result with camaras like HVX200, AF100, GH1 or 2, but also the Canon 5D MarkII? Which other equipment?
There are setting that have less noise but always noised video in the darken are. Which are the best setting, including lighting setting?
I know that there are noise reduction that are very usefull but when you have a lot of shots and and few time become difficult...

thanks

Raise your black level with fill light, then darken it in post.

It encodes better, and this has less grain to begin with. Then when you darken it, the little grain that is there gets reduced even further.

This isn't a comment with regards to lights, but about camera settings. On your Panny Cams, have you adjusted the gamma settings in the scene files? For example, using B.Press instead of HD-Norm will make a significant improvement in black area noise reduction. Also, try reducing your master pedestal and increasing detail coring.

Yes i used B.press and i have adjusted other parameter, too. Regarding the camaras, is not clear to me if Canon 5D MarkII with is bigger sensor how better is, in noise, compared to gh2 or the HVX200 with is better codec.

Read Timurs post. Its the perfect method.

Heres a little ISO test I did with an AF100 . Youll notice that whilst the ISO goes to 3200 the noise isnt terrible. And this is because as Timur says - feed the sensor with light and noise is reduced. And those areas are easy to darken in post - again read Timurs post.
