How to mail BPAV files?

Hey guys, I have about 7 gigs of footage in BPAV files, and I need to know the best way to mail it to someone to so they can take the BPAV and can convert it to their own format.

Any ideas? Tips?

As Mr. Ford observed, emailing even a fraction of that size is virtually out of the question.

The most common method of transferring that kind of bulk data is to use an upload/download service. Of course, that presumes that both you (uploading) and the destination (downloading) have good fast broadband connectivity, else it is probably faster to put a stack of DVDs in the snail mail with a stamp.

As Cassius said, perhaps the best solution is mailing a portable hard drive. Many times we have files in the 40 & 50 gigabyte range that have to go to an editor across the country. Uploading and download would take way too long. We've found 120gb portable HDs in the $35 range (eCost.com) and build that into the budget.

We've used portable HDDs with good success. The USB flash drives are also a good solution if you have less than 8GB to move. We had to move 60+GB last summer, and the HDD was the only viable solution.

Costco has high gig thumb drives, or as we call them at work "Nerd Sticks". you can get 8, 16, & 32 gig sizes. Or burn 2 DVDs. Or FTP the stuff over night.
