I will be shooting with two hvx200's this weekend. I need to know how they can both have the same time code. I am sure that it will have to be done over the firewire cable. I just can't seem to find it in the manual. Thanks
My friends who've struggled with this set-up a great deal say it doesn't work. They are very good techs. They say its totally unreliable, so be forewarned.
It is only partly useful. It does sync them perfectly right when you do it. But there are circumstances that will cause the cameras to lose sync; turning the camera off is one, and toggling modes between VCR and CAMERA modes is another.
Problem is, that's exactly what you HAVE to do immediately; because you set sync with one in VCR mode, you have to toggle to camera mode, and that will cause it to lose a couple of frames.
And if you toggle back and forth between camera and VCR mode, each time you do you'll lose a couple of frames of sync.
So as long as you just shoot straight, you should maintain sync throughout (excepting that first toggle's introduction of a couple of frames of offset). But if you're constantly toggling back and forth, then no it won't be worth much by the end of the shoot.
