How to grade GH2 to look like this?

Try aplying "Curves" and add S-curves to red and green channels and also to rgb. It´s way to contrasty for my taste though, everythings black.

@ Ian
Sorry for the confusion.
I mean color grade.

Thanks Jack. I'll try your suggestion in vegas.

NP cam123. By the way.....his comment was "The color was graded in Avid Comoposer + Magic Bullet"I use Vegas myself and believe most of what one can do in Magic Bullet you can also do within Vegas' own color tools. I agree with what JackBayer says above....also with it being way too contrasty. But in the end I think that dark look worked for this creepy story.

EDIT: I loved it though..

Thank you guys.
So this seems to be a preset only, hmmm, I thought this was graded by a colorist.
I look into this magic bullet since I am not familiar with this.
I usually adjust the colors using levels, color correction HSL, saturation and brightness.

While your at it, LOOK! Take a look at the picture and THINK- what is happening with the bright bits, are there lots of midtones, etc. What colors seem more exagerated, what don't come through much at all? Are the blacks - black? Are there greys in the shadow, or are all the dark parts dark. Are the reds more orangey red or more bluish red? Etc. etc....

I agree with everybodys' suggestions above... I'm just hoping that as you try and mimic this look, you'll play a lot with whatever Color Correction tools you have and start to get what's going on. In part to advance your skills and in part beacause it's really fun!

VidE is absolutely right. Just take a look at the image and pick apart the overall coloring... Then you can adjust accordingly. You can achieve this look with any basic color correction tools, some (like Magic Bullet) just make it easier if you aren't familiar with more complex grading software. Any basic editing system's internal coloring tools should be more than sufficient.

On first glance the image is very warm and obviously high contrast, with shadows being pushed into greens and blues. Start by pushing the highlights and midtones to orange and cooling down the shadows a touch, bring down the saturation a little, up the contrast to your liking, and work your way from there!

Hope that helps..

Im with Ian- I too thought this looked great, Even the shot composition is spot on.

The above poster didn't say it was preset *only*, but that a certain preset would be a starting point. The presets aren't meant to be dropped in and forgotten about; they're meant to be heavily edited into what you want. So the answer is that it could be a preset modified by a colorist to fit the material, or it could be something else. There are a lot of ways to achieve the same result, and none of us were there. Magic Bullet is a great program that streamlines color correction immensely, but I agree that the same things can be done with standard effects- it just takes longer. And I recommend luma curve as an effect, much better than levels. If you have three way color corrector you should also learn to use that, which has a lot more ability than just HSL adjustment.
