How to get started with Milapse timelapse?

I just got my new Meade head and the 497 controller to do the Milapse timelapse thing, and I can't figure out how to get started. I'm not into all the astronomy lingo, and I don't really understand the controls. Is there anything written up out there about just getting started? I watched the Milapse youtube video, but I think I need something a little more basic to start understanding the 497 controller, and exactly how to change the speeds of the panning and the tilting.

To start, I want to do a nice slow tilt-down and pan from sky to my house. Any suggestions on settings? I think once I do a couple, I'll start figuring out how to tinker around with the settings to change the results.

I ordered it from the telescope warehouse. www.telescope-warehouse.com It was $250 with shipping, including the 497 controller.
