How to get some interlace into a 25P project?

Our photograph just filmed accidentally interlace instead of progressive. All other material is filmed with progressive and the editing has been doing in a 25P project.
Is there any way of include some of the interlace footage into the progressive project? I have read about DVfilmaker But it doesnt says if it can handle interlace PAL into 25P. And if this would be possible which should be the workflow. I mean, capture the interlace footage and then export it to DVfilmmaker or any other program that would do the thing, and then import it to an avid 25P project?????

It sound like a laberinth . Many thanks for any comment or clue.

You can always capture interlace footage into a 25p project type. All effects processing will be done as progressive but that shouldn't matter.

Tom. What avid xpress version are you running?
I ask this cause i had a lot of problems to work in 25p projects. Especially audio problems. (completely and constanly out of sync) I am running 4.3.1.

About your question sure Michael is right. I will add that i use to work in 25i projects with 25p material so it will probably has a viceversa properties.

4.3.5 is not available. Please get that version to fix out-of-sync issues.

Hi Travis,

I thought i have sent you an instant message in which i telle you that i haven experienced until now out of sync problem.

About the 4.5, i havent found any source where one can download the 4.5. as a standalone upgrade. they have this on Avid.com:

"Note: Version 4.5 ships with Avid Xpress Studio; the standalone edition will be available later in Q3. Upgrades from previous versions of Avid Xpress Pro will be available as a free download"

Michael P, thank for your always so helpful answer.
I wonder which drawbacks should mixin' interlace footage into a progressive project bring. I can think its not the best of practices. For example when having en progressive dvd some one of the goal. Then it wont be possible to do the whole thing progressive due to the interlace segmenets. Or how?

Re: How to get some interlace into a 25P project?

First of all, you are looking for version 4.3.5 and not 4.5. 4.5 is not due for another 4-5 weeks.

As far as interlace on a progressively encoded DVD. You will not really notice any artifacts on an interlace TV monitor, but you will notice some frame blending when viewed on a progressive monitor (LCD,PLASMA, computor, etc.). But that would be the case anyway with any interlace footage.

With version 4.5, you will have a preset in FluidFilm that creates 25p from 25i and vice versa as a vector based digital tweeining process. This actually creates new frames. This is NOT a real time process, bit it is not horrible. Depending on the amount of footage in the timeline, it could be a viable solution. I believe that Boris FX has a similar filter you can try now if you have that package.

Thanks for the advice Michael P :)

A TRavis, i had today a little problem with my mojo and started loggin withoutit and i noticed some synck problems. Luckly me the mojo is on its way again. But i suspect that there isnt synck problmes if one is using the mojo. But the best way should be to download the upgrade which Michael P recommends.....but........ where can one download it???? In the avid site there is only 4.3.1 available for download.

Re: How to get some interlace into a 25P project?

It should be posted soon. It was just released to manufacturing this week. The sync issue is only when a Mojo is not attached and has been fixed with this release.
