How to get cinematic AERIALS for cheap with only one person?

I've been working for a while on a way to get cinematic aerial shots. First attempt cost just over $10K and needed minimum 2 people. Here is the best and cheapest I was able to come up with so only 1 person is needed to operate this RC unit.

What do you think? Can it be used for serious filmmaking?

Here are longer takes of just the aerial shots. No post stabilization was applied. Still working on smoothing out the shots even more.

I think at this point there is no question about 'serious'. I think the shots show that the 'cheap' drone can work well for a nolo budget film. I think it would give production 'value' almost 'as is', but with a bit of clean up, and perhaps clipping the shots so that only the good portions remain, most viewers would not be sitting there thinking 'gosh what on earth was that guy trying to do'...

On a more technical note... how did you 'view' from the ground what the camera was 'seeing'... or did you just eyeball it from where you were operating the controls?

I used a wireless video transmitter and receiver and a 7inch monitor that you see in the video I have attached to the RC transmitter. It give you real time feedback on what exactly the camera sees and if its recording etc.

Good point... but if ure shooting in remote areas then u don't have to worry about safety as much :) Worst that happens is u hit a tree.
