How to get Canon 7D video quality from DVX

Hey everyone.

I've recently seen footage from the Canon 7D and was blown away by the look of it. Is there a way that anyone knows of to adjust the DVX settings to get a similar look. I really appreciate everyone's feedback!

Thanks!

You will never get DVX footage to look like HD but you can uprezz the picture to make the quality a bit better. What editing system do you use?

Im using FCE. I'm really not looking for the complete HD look. I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my DVX. I would like to make it look as "film-like" as I possibly can.

Thanks

If you don't have a copy of Barry Green's DVX Book, find one and read it cover-to-cover. That'll teach you everything you need to know about getting the best from your DVX.

You're out of the secret DVXUser Skull & Bones Society for that comment, Jordan. I'll be visiting you soon to collect your chest medallion and goat's head.

Amblin91 if you want to get a filmic look scour this site, the net and look on Amazon for some books. A little experimentaion will give you some great looking results. Good luck!

Amblin,

Don't assume that something YOU shoot on a 7D would look so "filmic".

I've seen DVX stuff ("SIMILO") that totally looked like a movie, and I've seen 7D stuff that looked like average video.

Film look = Lighting, 24p frame rate, lighting, shot composition, lighting, shallower depth of field, lighting, color grading, lighting, and last but most importantly LIGHTING.

~Cheers!
