If viewed on an HD television, the answer would be "Oh most certainly yes". CineFrame 30 viewed on the HDTV, vs. DVX 30p, was still quite a bit sharper and more detailed than the DVX footage.

Viewed on an SDTV? No discernable difference. But if viewing on an HDTV, yes you'd see the effect of 2x horizontal pixels, most certainly.

what is wrong with just using DV Film Maker?
Seems like the easiest way to convert 60i HDV to 24P...
I am sure there will be loss in sharpness, but anyway you do, you will lose pixels, right?
why do you have to use Cineframe 25 and do all these time consuming complicated things?

Thanks Barry for that comment. That's just what I think too. There's no real resolution boost in SDTV. But in HDTV it's a different story. DVX propably get's a really good picture even on an HDTV, and I'm really not here to bash it in any way.

My point only was, that while deinterlaced HDV might be the best way to do it with the FX1/Z1, still Cineframe25 will get the same look with a resolution loss. And still that cineframe25 material will look sharper than DV from any camera.

And why do I want to use Cineframe25 instead of deinterlacing? Because it gives me a faster workflow. I can see the footage with deinterlaced motion while shooting and while editing. These two are important to me, as it always gets into a totally different film, after I've deinterlaced it. The mood of all scenes changes into filmlike, rather than news like. And I want to be in that mood while editing.

This is not a solution that totally comforts me, though. I hope that Panasonic will come out with a 25p DVCPRO-HD or 50Mb/s MPEG camera. And if it's released now, I'll sell my FX1 (in two years), and get the Panasonic. Cineframe25 is just a temporary solution, that works for me. It doesn't work for everybody. Atleast in the NTSC world cineframe25 might still be a little hard to handle, as you'll have to slow it down.

cineframe 25 is an easy workflow. maybe there is some resolution loss, but it's risk free. with de interlacing, you never know if some artifacts will come out, there is also softening involved, basically you are merging lines shot at different moments! In my tests, I prefer the Cineframe25 look. There are here: http://www.smashmyphone.com/hdvtest/

I don't know why I love uber babes. Something sexy about tough looking chix, but I didn't notice the dif. Funny how hd thumbnails look like reg pix. I almost forgot to click on them.

Yes and that's ,y point exactly. Where's the difference between the two? And in any case, if there is any difference, I prefer CF25 over deinterlaced. Look at her eyebrows, clean on CF25, pixels and some problems on deinterlaced.

By the way I should add a line inviting people to click on thumbnails to enlarge.
