How to fix echoes in audio?

I shot some HD footage and when I got to Premiere Pro CS3 I can hear the echoes from the dialogue in the room I shot in. Is there anyway to fix this in Soundbooth CS3?? Or for that matter any other audio program?

Thanks

The only filter that will do you any good is the proverbial "re-shoot" filter. Once recorded, there's not much that can be done, especially when it comes to reverb/echo. Yeah, there are some nifty tools out there like SoundSoap that can remove hiss and hum, but those are constant noise signatures that can be sample easily. Reverb and echo change over their durations, making it much more difficult, if not impossible, to remove effectively.

they can be reduced a bit (sometimes a lot) with the right compressor/ expander. The only one I know of that does much for this though is a mac only plugin.

I would use an expander, as it helps to reduce the reverb tails between the dialogue. I've used the C1 Compressor/Expander from Waves and that helped.
