How to do a Center-Extraction

I made some HD shots in 1080i ....Now, for another work, I want to use part of that material in DV format with 4:3 aspect....What is the best way for that?

You should ask this question in the forum for your particular NLE, as this is an NLE question. You can't do a center-extraction in-camera, you'd do it in your editing program.

If you have After Effects do it there.

Open a 4:3 Comp and bring in your avi/QT clip.

Transform to your hearts content.
