How to Dissolve into Ash/Dust

I am doing a small scene where someone is going to dissolve into ash as the other person touches there face. I have a understanding on how we are going to shot it. We are just looking for the effect. I have been to videoCo and we watched the disintegration one. I believe the movie 1408 has a scene like that. If anymore can give us any info on where to look we would gladly appreciate it.

We will be using a green screen

Think Shutter Island scene
 
Particle Illusion would be another option. I followed a tutorial a few years back to do a kind of transporter effect and it wasn't much more than a cross dissolve with the effect layered over it. Didn't look perfect, but I just followed the tut very quickly and didn't do any cleanup at all. I'm thinking the biggest difference is that the transporter particles are brightly colored and the ash won't be.
