Hi, Guys,

I am using GH1 +20/1.7 doing the video for kid quality is really impressive with hacked from this forum and the combination's narrow DoF. However there are 2 irritating things
  1. AF noise of 20/1.7
  2. AF Sluggishness, it is more than irritating when AF keeps searching when kid is moving
as such the video will not be on spot very single time point anyway, I am thinking why not simply disable continous AF then I can press AF/AE lock when it is obvious out of AF from LCD. Hopefully this way power will be saved somewhat and less AF noise during the video.

Anybody comes cross similar idea? can anyone advise how to disable continuous AF but I can use AF lock (surely in in MF I simply can not )

Thanks in advance.

I am confused by your question. The Cont AF should only work as long as you half-depress the shutter release button. It will stop focussing when you let go. So... your CAF is disabled this way. You are not much going to get away from the noise problem, but you could try the 14-42 X lens which is meant to be silent. You could also try some of the other AF modes for better results.
