How to create a similar shot?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you could help me. I have just seen the trailer for the film 'Accidents Happen' and there is a crash scene where everything slows down and there are pieces of glass swiling around.

Take a look here at 1:06

Also this teaser from the film

I am trying to catch the glamour of slow mo when you can see everything in its beauty. What would you reccomend shooting on? I don't have a large budget to shoot on any major players but want to recreate the smooth ultra slow motion.

Thanks

David.

I would imagine you need a high frame rate in order to slow it down and play it smoothly at a film rate.

Record at a high frame rate...most consumer cameras don't allow much versatility in this arena.

The best you're gonna due on a budget is 60fps (my Panasonic HMC 150 does that)...which will get closer to the effect. Won't be perfect, but better than nothing.

shoot in a high shutter speed like 1/120th or higher.... and use TWIXTOR to create your slow motion.
I believe a guy shot in 1/4000th shutter speed 1080p24 on a 5D and used twixtor to slow down some cars rally driving. looked good.

To know which camera to rent to shoot is only part of the issue... how would you go and stage such a scene is in my opinion much more difficult to make it looks real.
