How to convert hd to sd

CS5 does an excellent job.
Just export your footage to mpeg2-dvd with a high quality preset, also make sure Maximum Render Quality is set. Import the file into Encore.
Make menu and burn to disk.

If you find that the results aren't to your liking, try contacting a professional compressionist. I can tell you right now CS5 doesn't do a 100% perfect job, and if you need to squeeze a lot of video onto a single layer DVD you'll need a pro compressionist to make sure your image doesn't fall apart if your bitrate is under 8mbps.

This post was a great help ,I shot footage on my 550d and goprohd and edited up a program in CS5 and was struggling to get the footage down to get a good result , Many many thanks Ann Bens could give me more info on the Tmpgenc product did you buy the full version and what settings you used. Please

You also can try iFunia HD video converter, can convert video from and to HD videos (720p, 1080p) including HD AVI, HD H.264/AVC, AVCHD (.mts, .m2ts), HD Quick Time, HD MPEG-2 TS, HD MPEG-4 TS, HD WMV, etc.

I've tried both Adobe CS5's Maximum Render Quality engine for HD to SD and tried Precomposed.com method. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two. I have stuck with the first method as it is a major time saver, and all my clients like the quality output anyways.

You can either export to avi (HD dimension) with the Lagarith codec and which is lossless (huge files) en import into Tmpgenc (yes i bought the full version) and render to dvd (default setting, or tweak it to your liking) or use the new Frameserver for CS5 to get the file into Tmpgenc.
