FINALLY I have a new REEL. Comments please...

Good work, sir. The Reel both shows off your work, and is entertaining at the same time. If I had the money to fly you out here, put you up, and pay your salary, I would hire you to shoot my feature in a heartbeat (well, I already would have, seeing your work over the past few years in fest films, but the reel made me want to even more).

Hey Timur,

your work, or course, rocks out with its cock out.

I wonder what the logic is for putting it together that way. Or is there a logic? It seems a little long for me, and a lot of the things repeated. Then Nikki asked me: "Well, could he be showing some different lighting situations in the same pieces?" But it didn't feel like that was the reason.

Maybe it's because I know almost all of the stuff on it?

I just let alie go nuts.

So its the logic of her. I ask no questions.

It's a nice reel. It does what it needs to do pretty elegantly. Good range of shots, nice pacing. I like that you let us see that you are capable of working to cinematic standards with shots that last longer than a flash.

Very beautiful stuff there Timur. You have a lot of talent and work under your belt. I definitely look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future.

I have to agree with the comment about duration, it did feel long. At 3:30 i found myself pushing the bar forward to see what else was coming.

Still very entertaining though.

If I had the cash I'd hire you. You DPed Bloody Mary, the movie? You know there's another horror film that cracks on that film right? At least I think it's that film they're talking about. Bonehand and TeddyBear were intriguing. That shot through the neon sign for Constance was hot, may have to steal that one from you. BTW I saw Katrina, that joint was off the chain man. I really liked it, and that actress that played Katrina was smokin'. I may watch that again. LOL. Nice end on the reel too, with all the faces.

Tight. Looks really good. I do have to agree with the others though - it is a bit on the long side. It was good enough that I watched the whole thing, but my 2cents - leave people wanting more, not feeling "too full" for lack of a better analogy. About a good minute shorter would be about right.

There was just a couple shots that didn't match up to the quality of the others. One shot in the Bloody Mary movie where she is screaming (and maybe another one right around there) - it just didn't have the same production value as the rest. No deal break though... just an observation as it didn't seem to hold up as well to the rest of the footage.

That said - fantastic. I'm very impressed with the quality of your cinematrophy.

If I may ask, I looked at your profile - you are shooting on a 35mm adaptor, the SG Flip Pro is that right? Using Canon glass?

I have heard misc. things about 35m still lenses (like a set of Nikon Lenses that I would also use for my DSLR) not being the same as motion video/film 35mm lenses, and also problems with images around the edges. How big of a deal is this?

I am thinking of getting a Letus35 Extreme + Nikon 35mm Lenses + a Nikon DSLR. Will that 35mm adaptor and the same lenses serve me well for both still and photo? Will they transfer for over someday for use in other applications, ie on a RED camera?

Anyway, not to thread hijack - if you'd like to send me a PM (or anyone else with some insight on that as well) that would be awesome.

And again, great work and impressive reel. I would personally shorten it by about a minute and watch for those few shots that don't look quite as good as the rest. Less is more.

I thought that was great...you are extermely talented! Didn't have a problem watching the whole thing. GREAT work.

Thank you guys... but the credit goes to Alison..... She made it rock.

Im on the fence about the length. If its too long, a prospective client will just stop watching and say, hey i like his work. But a cleint that wants a more indepth look at my work will watch all the way through.

So its not really a big deal i dont think....

was going to mention the length, but you make a valid point Timur. Shazammed the song too ^_^ gonna download that one. great choice.

its roisin murphy...... i fell in love with that song a few weeks ago.... hopefully i wont get sickofit

Harsh cits:
I think what you shoot/light.composite is right up there.
I was happy with the first half then lost interest, but not because of your footage or compositing.

I think mainly the music killed me. Maybe in a 2 or 3 min vid you need dynamics to keep us interested the same as any medium.(?)

If you could edit as per a music video, I mean a dynamic one, then I think a 3 min vid would keep my attention.

No probs with the work at all, just the presentation. :)
You da man Tim. Nice stuff.

Really impressive work Tim !!! I'm the king of long demo reels, just can't show enough right? :) Maybe shorten it a bit, but still very impressive work !!
