how to convert 24 p advanced material into standard

i have a huge problem! I shot in 24 p advanced modus and now the avid won't capture my footage. I also read that material shot in advanced modus is not as good in motion as the standard. Also it has different standards for the audio pulldown! The material I captured in 23,98 project looks pixealted! I guess I first have to go back to 24p standard and then capture it! Does anyone know how to do that? Did anyone ever run into a similar problem? And what is actually the real difference between 24 p and 24 pA?

Thank you any answers regarding this problem would really help

Hello Andrea,
you can find a good explanation of the difference here:

http://www.adamwilt.com/24p/index.html#24pRecording

You basically shoot 24p, if you want to edit in 29.97, finish in 29.97 and want that "film look". 24pA is, when you edit and finish in 24p to go to film or 24p DVD. The audio is always the same, since the DVX always records 29.97 NTSC DV.

Once you removed the advanced pulldown from the 24pA material you can apply a regular 3:2 pulldown to turn your material into "regular" 24p material straight from a DVX. This can be done with After Effects or a number of other tools, like FieldsKit.

Unfortunately I can't help you with the Avid issue, since I don't use Avid. But there shouldn't be a problem capturing 24pA from a DVX since it really is just 29.97 NTSC DV.

Avid does capture 24padvanced with no problems you just have to make sure your video pull down cadence says advanced not standard. This can be found in your film & 24p settings.
