This probably sounds stupid to most of you guys but I don't know any better.

When cleaning my DVX100b according to my manual I'm not to touch the viewfind to clear dust, only use a blower.

What about with the lens though?

I pour some lens cleaner on it, wipe it with lens towlette and I'm good right?

Do the same thing with my anamorphic lens too?
 
it is ok to clean the viewfinder..i just use my blower then hot air from my breath and a mircofibre cloth i got with the lens cleaning kit...its inside the viewfinder that they say ur not to touch if i remember correctly, because u can screw off the viewfinder top and clean the "tunnel" of it WITH THE BLOWER. they say not to touch it cuz its some coated material (go read the manual:) cuz i cant remeber)

for the lens. dont pour or spray anything on it. Assuming u have a kit with blower, brush, lens cleaning solution and microfibre cloth:
1. use ur blower first. (do not use compressed air)
2. then ur brush very lighly removing any dust. (gently cuz the dust can scratch the lens)
3. then spray or pour lens cleaning solution ON THE MICROFIBRE CLOTH, not the lens. and gently wipe in a circular pattern. do not apply pressure to the lens.

This is how i do it and this is how i see the tutorials that i researched on do it. if i am wrong u guys can correct me :). I am yet to clean my lens cuz i dont need to as yet cuz my uv filter is on..however that is how i clean the filter and plan to clean the lens if and when dust is on it.

By the way every question is legit if u dont know so dont feel stupid cuz u dont know.

Thanks I really appreciate it. You helped me with getting a kit too.

My kit cost about five dollars but didn't come with a brush or blower. What a rip off.

I'll have to order those online, since I live in small town Arkansas.
 
no place around town is photography store?

my kit comes with :
brush
blower
lens cloth
lens solution
lens tissues (which i dont use, i find they leave little remnants on the lens)

available from most photo stores.
 
I use a lens pen to clean my lenses. Just breathe on the lens, then use the lens pen in small circular motion. Works Great.
 
Might need to look into that pen.

I don't have a lens cloth, just lens tissues in my kit.

I have a Microfiber cloth as well. What is that for? The rest of the camera?
