how to charge for gear?

Usually jobs are continuous so say if it's a job over the weekend the client gets 1 day rental on gear (similarly that a rental house would give them) but how do you deal if over weekend the client shoots 2 different jobs with the gear (I'm the DP). Would you charge them one day too?

You would charge them a weekend rate. This may vary, but usually it is 1.5X the day rate.

I dont know, I would probably just do stick to what ever the rental houses do in your area. Ask him whats fair.

Don't be "Penny-wise and pound foolish", in other words, do whatever keeps the client coming back.
You don't want to give them a reason to start renting from a rental house.

Still one day unfortunately. If they rented from the rental house they'd have no idea if they were shooting two different jobs with it.
