How to change Kelvin values Sony A7s Custom WB

I feel really dumb asking this question, but I've tried every button on the camera and can't figure it out.

How do you change the Kelvin values of the custom color temperature settings? I select WB>C1, and a color square appears that allows me to change the color shift, but none of the dials change the actual temperature! The wheel and both dials just affect the color shift in the square.

I know I'm missing something obvious. Help?

Click to the right on the large screen wheel and you'll see the WB settings appear on screen. go to custom and press right again. then use wheel to adjust. One more click to the right brings up the fine tuning grid.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately something seems to be wrong with my camera. I click right on the wheel, go to custom, but when I press right on custom, it jumps instantly to the fine tuning grid, bypassing the color temperature setting. Not sure what to do at this point...

Sorry, apparently I'm being an idiot too, because I can't figure out how to actually change the Kelvin temperature. I click right on "custom" and it goes straight to the fine tuning grid. All the other buttons either adjust the grid or they exit out of the menu.

What am I missing?

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread.

I was in the same predicament. You can choose a custom Kelvin White Balance with 'C.Temp / Filter', but I wasn't able to find a way to save it to Custom 1/2/3.

Finding no solution out there, I devised my own.

I downloaded an app called 'Pocket Softbox' by 'Pimentoso Tools' on my Android phone, which allows you to use the screen as a softbox, with the Kelvin color temperature selection of your choice. You have a few inbuilt presets & you can touch the screen & drag up or down to change the color temperature of your choice. A direct way to input Kelvin values would have been an icing on the cake, but then, you can't have everything. ;-)

Then I just went to the last option in White Balance selection (Custom Setup), pointed my camera at the screen pressed the center button to capture & saved it to the Custom 1/2/3 of my choice.

Its not dependable, for example, if I set the screen to 3500, the camera captures it as 4400 or so. The next time around, the same may be read as 4500, or 4600. The phone screens are optimized for looking good, not for color accuracy & lighting conditions or even slight changes in angle of shooting may cause the screen color temperature to be read differently. So it requires a bit of trial & error, but it works. :)

Cheers,
Jp
