How to censor blur?

How do I censor things like middle fingers and the like? I want to use that effect where everything gets pixelized, but I'm not sure how to do it in FCP. Any help?

That is kinda ironic.

I believe there are plugins that let you tween a mask to follow motion, and whatever area is left exposed, it'll blur or pixelate it

basically you need to have the same video in 2 tracks in the timeline. on the top, apply a matte, and motion keyframe along the sequence.

Best way to achieve this is to have the video on 2 video tracks as mentioned, and put the "Crystal" illusion fx on the top one, do a mixdown of it, then Picture in Picture keyframe it to crop the sections needed to blur, with a soft of about 5-8 to keep the blur from being so square
