How to CAST a Movie

I know people who worked with Brando who said his using little notes with his lines on them all over the set was common and not because he was just lazy. He did it for an actual acting craft film technique so his mind was clear and there was no effort to speak a memorized line but be completely free to be in a moment with the other actor especially if he was given line changes.
Was this late in Brando's career?

No disrespect to you JJ.

Very insightful stuff here! Speaking as a "hack" actor, LOL, I know I ain'ts gettin' an Oscar anytime soon. But I love the craft. And I love what has been said here, because there are a lot of good points that actors can take from this thread.

I about fell out of my chair with ZZ's Don't: sleep with any of your cast. Still waiting for a hot/any female CD to ask me. I think I may have to wait for quite some time, sadly.

Serious blow to my masculinity.

EDIT: If asked, I will bring my own "casting couch". But female CD's only, please.

How to properly send a rejection letter/email, would be a good one. Awesome thread guys.

Nobody sends rejection letters, you don't have time to be responding and replying to everyone. You send a rejection letter and you'll get another 100+ responses that will be hard not to look at, maybe even a few telling you to go f yourself or "your loss". Seriously, some actors are really crazy and some are borderline stalker deranged. Don't assume you're dealing with all normal people when you're doing a cattle call, it brings out some strange people who aren't actors who want to get into it. I've read of actors following a production after it's done and trashing it on IMDb and elsewhere. You ever heard of the disgruntled actor who didn't get casted? There's a reason why studios and Hollywood in general shows they aren't interested by not responding, they've learned it's better not to respond than respond and create an enemy because someone read an e-mail wrong.

Just chiming in here but I have to agree with Michelle...if you have a script two weeks and dont know your lines it doesnt reflect well at all...as an actor, always hold you sides but be off book if you get it that far in advance...think about what it says if they've given you the piece that far in advance and you come with little prep...yoiu cannot act freely if you are tied to the script...getting the lines out of the way is the best way to free yourself in an audition
