how to apply ptool to camera?

very basic question i'm sorry! once you've saved you're settings in ptool how do you actually apply them to your camera? I haven't got a Lumix GH-1 yet but I want to be sure i can appy this hack before making the purchase.

Sorry if it's a stupid question!
 
you copy the hacked firmware to a SD card. Put the SD card in GH1 and turn the camera ON. Then press "PLAY" and it will update the firmware.
 
How about the steps before. Any recommendations. Just looking for 24p and increased bitrates. I know. I'm lazy. But also very busy. Don't have time to mess up. And read all the pages. Thanks.
