And some of us think our kit is a bit heavy and wish it were lighter? I take my hat off to the guys from the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol. The Beeb being my original stomping ground. A great behind the scenes take on natural history doco shooting and the physical demands of doing it. On Netflix, it's called "Our Planet Behind The Scenes 2019" Worth a watch indeed.

Canon once loaned me that lens and a C300 body.

Nothing else. Lens. Body. No rods. No supports. That was the demo kit.

I did manage a shot of the craters on the moon, but it was precarious.

That does sound precarious! I've looked at that lens, never used it. One hell of a piece of kit though... and heavy!

Years ago a guy contacted me wanting to shoot an indie fiction film that took place walking the Appalachian Trail. He thought that we could keep it manageable by shooting in S-16 (this was pre-digital days) and use Steadicam instead of lugging around a tripod. I arranged for him to visit a set with me to meet a Steadicam Op friend and when the guy saw my friend's cart he knew his idea was a bust. He was amazed at the weight of the stand used just to hold the rig while the Op wasn't wearing it.
