GH2 How the heck do I output this adequately?

Still using FCP7.

My footage is from GH2 with Terraquake, timeline is PR442-HQ, and it's a lot of birds on the water... HYPER detail and movement. Looks great on my monitor. Lovely swirls and twinkling fine-tines starburst flares all over the place.

Outputting to a standard 5000kbps H.264 for web via Compressor makes it look like a LEGO animation.

Advice on how I might make it not suck would be appreciated. Thanks.

5000kbps sounds pretty low to me. I start at a minimum of 9000kbps, but sometimes up that to 12000 or 13000 if it's a relatively short clip. Try a higher bitrate and see if that gives you the quality you want at a manageable file size. You also may want to think about down-rez to 720.

OK, so it's largely unrealistic expectations set forth by the site host...

I'm doing some experiments on vimeo uploads... hope to have something soon for everyone, but yeah it's a bit of a pain. Also trying to get info on how Apple Trailers are encoded.

Eager to see what you find out... let me know how I can help, if I can help.

For what it's worth, here's a frame of the original:
