The "focus ribbon" or whatever you call is is ripped. My front lens thing came apart in a terrible accident, i managed to fix it back together, but the ribbon is history and manuel focus also. zoom works ok
Should i put a gun to my head or is there any hope

If it's just the ribbon, I would think that would be a much cheaper fix than if there was a structural problem with the lens assembly. I'd contact a service center and see what they tell you. It might not be as bad as you think.

Thanks to God the lens is perfect and the camera works. Its the small white ribbon and the manuel focus ring which i know will have to be replaced. I have no idea about what i can do with the ribbon!

I had the same thing happen to me about a month ago i sent to spec-comm and they fixed it for 300 and i got back within the week.

Thanks for the info! That's a relatively small expense (considering what it could have been). I hope this puts our guy at ease a little bit.
