how precise is jam sync timecode?

When syncing timecode on 2 DVX100B, how precise is the sync? Is the accuracy close to that of genlocked cameras? I mean, I know it's impossible to have perfect phase sync without hard wiring the cameras, but does the jam sync function attempt to initially sync to something like the vertical interval, or will there be variances (up to half a frame)?

And approximately how long does it take for the timecode on different "sync'ed" cameras to start drifting apart? Minutes, hours, days, weeks?

That's my same question , How in fact do you sync two cameras up. Also can you sync multiple cameras say four to confirm to the same timecode.
Where can I find a how to Guide. And please don't give me that DVX100 Guide Book with DVD link.. I bought that already for 69.00. Now the 100B with more features came out. Just need to get my multi cam feature to get clean timcode edits with my AVID.. Thanks in advance

Barry Stated: look into free-run timecode, and starting both cameras at exactly the same timecode (use PRESET, not REGEN, and start both cameras with the same preset and switch them into free-run using the same remote control, and they should start and stay in sync throughout the day).

Where is there a explaination on this setup, And can I sync a 100A setting with DVX100B being the slave?

All I want to do is have sync Time Code on my shoots, so the editor is pleased

CAN I PLEASE MY EDITOR ..... PLEASE

Yes, and it's much easier, you don't have to fiddle with setting 'em both with the same remote etc.

Set both cameras to free run and tc preset. Make sure they're both using DF or NDF, you can't mix & match.

Set the 100A in camera mode. On the 100B go into VCR mode and turn on DV TC IN (don't remember the exact name). On the LCD panel it should say DV TC on it.

Then connect 'em via firewire and press the TC SET button on the 100B. It'll read the incoming firewire data stream from the 100A and sync its timecode preset.
