If the designer makes a living at it and had a meeting to discuss it and has spent time on multiple versions and will spend time finessing the final version it should be more like $500.
It is not just an equation of time spent. It includes the cost of computers, software, plug-ins, insurance, electricity, time, and everything else it takes to run and make a living from a business.
$500 is the bottom price for any of my motion logos but I will make 20 versions by the final including many different final versions.
If you don't like it, learn to make your own and finance your own toys.
If you want something different, ask for a change BUT have a plan and don't waste anyone's time telling them what you don't like but don't know what you want.
I get that all the time and that is why I charge a minimum of $500. That weeds out the folks that can't make up their mind.
Don't take it personally it's just business.
If it's a buddy and it's his play business pay him $250.
Cheers!
thats ridiculous. i dont care how many versions a designer has done, if he's done 20 versions of an animated logo that sucks i'm not paying $500 for it. whether he makes a living from it or not i could care less. if its nice work i'd pay him the same as i would pay a 16 year old geek that's just as good.
i've worked in advertising for over 8 years and we outsource some of the best agencies in the country to do projects we dont have enough time to knock out, and 75% of our clients DON'T know what they want.....that's why they come to us, so we can be the creative solution and create something they want or something that's even better they never thought of. if it bothers you that most clients don't have a clue what they're looking for even after revisions then you're in the wrong business, lol. non-creative people are clueless most of the time, they just want to be impressed and they dont care how much software you used or how many variations you can come up with.
most legit businesses have a policy in place that dont trap you into paying full price for their design work if you're not satisfied.
