Would it have to be BYOHVX or can we just watch and take notes? I'd like to go, just so if i ever get one (when i ever get one, actually), I won't be completely ignorant.
I'd be willing to share my HVX200 with those who haven't gotten one yet...,

A class with Barry would be very useful though geografically it´s out of reach for me. The first step should be the HVX-book for me. Hey, Barry! In January I think you said it would be out in a few months - can´t remember exactly. So maybe now it´s within a few weeks? Hopefully :)

I would love to attend, but my vote for a location would be for NYC (or Vegas as a second choice).

As for money, it depends how many are in attendance. A lecture format is much less interesting to me than a class of 12 to 20.

It would be very cool if something like this could happen,

Chris

I think this class would be a great idea, and i think it is a much needed class.
2 days at least, and max cost of $300 would be my thoughts.

Barry come to Naples to teach us about the camera! :) LOL
In USA you've already everthing! It's here that we need expert people! :)
Jarred Land don't you think the same? So come here! :)
If I'll become a *lucky guy with money* I'll come there to meet ya! :) But more probably I'll become an homeless after I've bought a camera and all the other stuff!
So remember of me! :)

$500? You gotta be kidding. Speakers/ professionals of that caliber can easily demand several grand per attendee and still have a full house IMHO.

Well, it looks like I might have come up with a good idea here.

I've got two HVX's, two Apple G4's with FCP and OWC RAID hard drives, LaCie firewire cards, a couple of P2 4g cards and tripods lights etc that I could bring to the party if it was local or in driving distance. I do think a two-day would be called for given the interest displayed here. A one-day would be OK for a small group though.

Reno has cheap rooms this time of year and the food and entertainment are very reasonable too. :D

If not I could go to LA, LV or SF for a couple of days, but I couldn't bring all my stuff on a plane.

Just because they are worth more dosn't mean that can't give us DVXusers a good DVX discount price on a class. Hey, we're worth it too! :)

2 days is a long time :)

Not when the beers cold!

I'm an East-coaster too. Maybe a pre (or post) NAB thing?

Plenty of time to wrangle some cheap tickets -- and we could camp out in pup tents in Barry's driveway! Free books and 8 gig P2 cars for everyone (thanks Jan!!!) . . . now we're talking!

Seriously though, I'd be happy to share my HVX as well . . . let's go!

I'd do this, but... I don't have an HVX :( And, I don't know when I will have one... I'm just trying to learn how to use my DVX :)

thats the good thing about the HVX.. things learned on the HVX apply to the DVX in alot of ways and vise versa.

sound's like a good idea anyway's, I haven't been able to make it down to la this year and don't see it happening until late next fall or winter so maybe this could be a yearly thing or twice yearly.

Have someone shoot this shindig and sell the DVD's here. I don't think Barry and Jarred are using their name's enough to push product. They have reached star status the likes of which I haven't seen since Oprah or Chuck Norris. Do I hear Barry Green bobblehead doll? I think I do.

Why can't I ever be serious.

True that. I want to someday get an HVX too. I guess I'll see what happens in the future. I'm just trying to afford my car payments right now :)

Also, whomever started this thread spelled Jarred's name wrong. It's Jarred, not Jarrad :) Just tryin' to make you all aware :) Protectin' the name.

If in LA, you should schedule it around the same time as E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in May, since it is in LA too. That way I can kill two birds with one stone. As far as price goes, that depends on the ratio of teachers to students. With the amount of interest that has been peaked here already in this forum, it looks like you aren't going to get any one on one time with the instructors (or small groups). I think $200 is about right. Now if you get a smaller more exclusive crowd, then you can go all the way up to the $500-1000 area. But this is smelling more like the $200 type of deal. I don't see why Panasonic wouldn't throw something into the mix as well. The HVX is whatever the filmmakers make it. If the HVX community comes together for functions like these, it only helps Panasonic that much more.

Hell, now that I think about it, I'd like to see a software specialist from FCP and Avid there too. Maybe the first day hardware, then the second day software. It seems like many of the questions here on this forum have to do with capturing and editing HVX footage.

Mike McLin

I'd defintely want to have Avid, FCP and Canopus all there. The workflow thing is important, and while I'll end up having used all three, I'm no expert on any of those, so I'd love to see reps from each show up.

I think this is all totally do-able. Jarred is the masta at putting stuff like this together, he's arranged a hospitality suite at NAB for DVXUser, so maybe he can pull some strings and make something happen here.

Even though I would love it to happen and go. But Flight from US<->Canada arnt super cheap, especially that I got to go to Chicago for a conference and Orlando for another conference (Just for Fun about Open Source Voice over IP, I am a speaker and nothing is payed !!!)...

I got the HVX200 now + hollywood camera work + Directing Actors book, I will start with this, + Barry book when it come out, and we will see next year for the trip.

I learned i need lightning and good tripod too :'( another few $$$k into that.

Like I said, work flow issues. I have two people right now. 200 dollar non refundable deposit to get on the waiting list. BYOHVX. I have an extra HVX available to tape for people who can't attend. Remember when Jane Fonda came out with those exericse videos? This can be the same.

It's not that I can't learn this on my own, I don't have the time. I want to get up and running asap and what better way to learn than Jarred or Barry teach.

Well, it wouldn't be Jarred OR Barry, I'll drag ol' Sasquatch along so it would be Jarred AND Barry. And hopefully a rep from each of the NLE companies, or at least one or two.

Lay out curriculum ideas you guys would want to see covered, and let's see if something can't be put together!
