I got a question from my dad's friend if I would like to make a music video for a friend of his. And I'm just wondering, cause I've never done it before:

should I charge anything?
if yes.. how much would be alright?

Depends on what you are doing. How many setups? How many days? What other Pro's do you need to hire. Do you need to pay for location?

For my first one I shot only a half day but hired two people, camera and lighting and paid for a location. I edited and directed, no charge. If I charged. This video would be minimum 5 grand. http://www.swisstherapper.com/Imgongetit_small.html

My next video will shoot two days and cost even more but the quality will be as good as broadcast.

Good luck,

if it doesent cost you anything more than tape/tapes, i would do it for free..

think positive, you get more experience, you might learn something new when filmin/editin the vid, and also you will get a your made musicvideo which you can be proud of, and show it up to your friends and they say "whooah! greaat!" :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) ..so it allready pays you back something else that money cant buy :) (and also your dads friend will think you are a great guy for doing it for free ;) )

but... if it costs you something (location/lights/etc..), i would charge the amount that it costs to you..

ive always gone by the old addage go cheap for a friend. i usually go 200 hundred and tell them 100 to shoot and 100 to edit most ppl go for it cuz it is dirt cheap to the whole thing for 200 bucks.
