How much do you think the Hmc150 price will drop

I am going to be keeping my HMC 150 at this stage. The particular (CCD) advantages and the excellent footage it has given me over the past two years make it a keeper in my books. I am pleased to see the new kids on the block but since they are late summer early fall delivery lots can happen in that time. Just seems to me that to sell your HMC150 for a couple of grand depending on condition and replace it with an AC160 is not really a big jump, it is a jump but actual retail price will dictate how attractive it will be for those with the new camera itch.

I have one with under 32 hours, I can let you have for $2350 shipped (ground in Continental US). Split the cost of escrow.com (wire transfer) with you. Comes with all accessories, including Barry's book, an add'l full size Panasonic battery, xlr mic cable. PM me if interested. Still a great camera.
Cost won't come down as long as people still buy it and demand it.

You will have it for a long time!

I think the DVX and HMC pricing and availability are being affected by issues in Japan right now.

I bought two brand-new HMC150 from B&H the last couple months...one was $2,795, the other was $2,645 a few weeks later. Now it's back up to about $3K again.

The DVX was at $2,199 at B&H sometime in 2008, then went back up to $2,495 the last few years.

But to think that a DVX is selling TODAY for the same price I bought an HMC150 just a few months ago...well, like I said, the supply and availability is being affected by Japan's issues, and that's going to be the case for a bit longer.

Yeah, have to wonder how all the problems in Japan will affect the release of these new cams.

The 150 is a great camera for events and shooting web based video. It will be around quite some time, I think. The new replacements look great. The DSLR craze is going to only create more demand for real camcorder models, as the DSLR folks (myself included) learn that it is really about coming back to having the right tool for the right job. I love using a camcorder, and plan to continue using one into the future. However, my next one will be based on a lot of things, such as lens, codec (more of a pro codec than AVCHD), some DOF ability beyond today's camcorders, and a slew of options, like 4:2:2, HD-SDI, great viewfinder, dual cards and dual card recording, etc. I can always splice in some DOF or buy a 35 mm adapter. While a lot of people like the cool factor of the AF100, I'm not convinced it's the camera for my particular style of shooting. I don't want to be changing lens all the time. I like having a real zoom, with constant focus throughout the range. But I never say never.

If I was looking for a new camera, the 130/160 look like great options. But as a 151 owner, is still seems very up to date to me and there isn't really any compelling reason to upgrade.
