How much could I sell this for?

Hey everyone. I was wondering what you guys think I could sell my laptop for. It's 2 years old (Gateway M210) but it has 512mb of RAM and 1.4 GHz. It only has a 60gb hard-drive, but external hard-drives are easily available.

And, I'm including ALL of the software listed below with it:

-Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended
-Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
-Adobe After Effects CS3
-Encore DVD 2.0

The software alone could be worth a lot, but I've decided just to sell them with the laptop.

What do you think a good price would be to ask for?

Thanks,
Colin Worley

At $250, he's about right. Welcome to planned obsolecence. The software
is not a factor in the value- unless you are including the original discs and
the software can be legally resold.

yeah, I had a one year old dell laptop, a really nice one, super tiny, cost me 1800 new, sold it a year later, got 500 for it.

I wouldn't pay more than 300

Thanks for the information. Man that's surprising! I guess it wouldn't even be worth it then, since I paid $900 for it.

The computer I built two years ago is hooked up to my TV as a media center. It also has USB modded sega genesis, super nintendo, and N64 controllers, and every ROM ever made for each of those systems and more. This is awesome if you're into vintage gaming, and doesn't really mean anything if you aren't.

The computer I bought four years ago is a laptop, and I still use it regularly for word processing, internet browsing, etc when I feel like being mobile.

The computer I built eight years ago is hooked up to my LAN in a closet upstairs with no monitor. I installed a minimal distro of linux on it and ssh into it from my other computers when I feel like messing around with programming/hacking. It isn't fast enough to run XP well, so I don't have another use for it.

The computer I'm typing on now I bought a month ago for $650 from dell, and is unbelievably fast with a quadcore 2.4 GHz processor and 2GB RAM. Computers are dirt cheap these days, and it doesn't even make sense to build anymore when Dell and HP are releasing them for unbeatably low prices.

My point is that Moore's law says roughly that computers double in speed every two years, so a two year old computer really isn't worth selling. Your best bet would be to find another use for it (seriously, the media center thing is great, or you could use it for web-browsing and general use while your new machine is used exclusively for video work). If you aren't into tinkering with computers, you can sell it to someone who is, but I wouldn't expect more than $100-200 for it, especially when you can get a decent new system for as low as $419: http://slickdeals.net/?permadeal=10711#direct_deal_10711

Best of luck.

considering you can download it for free, i would also say no more than 300.
