How much can you load on a Vinten Vision Blue?

Hi guys, as the title says; "How much can you load on a Vinten Vision Blue?"

I've read some great reviews for this tripod but it maxis out at 6kg. I just wonder in real terms what this would allow me to load on?

At present I have Olof's shoulder mount and Nano bracket attached (No Nano) but I am going to add a Zacutto evf, and an IDX battery. Further down the line I also want to add the Shoot35 base plate, matte box and follow focus.

How quickly am I going to max out the Vision Blue?

I have one and so far it has been fine with the following

AF101
Shoot35 AF101 Baseplate and 2 sets of 10" rods
Shoot35 Follow focus
Any of my lenses - the heaviest of which is an old Nikkor 135mm f2.8
Grip Handles
Shoulder mount
Blackmagic Hyperdeck shuttle and an ssd

I think if I added a matte box and V-plate battery and plate the counterbalance system would struggle a blt, but you could still get smooth pans and tilts and obviously locked off it would be perfect.

You need to be a bit more specific with regard to the overall payload weight and height. I had gone through the same exercise earlier this year and even contacted Vinten's Peter Harman (Product Manager in the U.K.), who confirmed that a moderately accessorized AF100 would be pushing the limit of the Vinten Vision Blue especially on a baseplate/bracket because of the higher center of gravity for the payload. The head might not balance as intended. Mr. Harman then suggested to step up to the Vision 5AS system. Of course, such a step will be twice or more as costly. For now, I settled with a mint Sachtler DV 6 SB on carbon legs, in the current nomenclature called the Sachtler FSB 8 T SL MCF, which is excellent. I like the 75mm Sachtler systems for their very low entry payload of only 1 kg (2 lbs), other things more or less equal to the 75mm Vintens. Makes them very versatile.

+1 on the Sachtler FSB 8T. I use one with my similarly loaded up AF100 - handles it with room to spare.
