How many of you shoot 24p Advanced for TV broadcast?

The last long form doc I shot was 24p (standard). I mixed with some 60i converted with Nattress to 24p as well. Will be doing the same on another long form doc I'm about to start, though considering going with 24p advanced. The reason - when I go to DVD the image is not as crisp due to those 2 extra fileds. This was really apperant when I included some 35mm telecinied material. The only way to get a clean image was to remove the pull-down. I won't be using 35mm telecinied on this project, but wondering if anyong could share their experiences and suggestions as to what might be the best way to go. Appreciate it, Dale

24p is the same same as 35mm telecined in regard to field and cadence.
If you shot 24p you should have been able to cut together with 60i in the same timeline without conversion.

If you are planning to go to 23.98 sequence then shoot 24pa.
Avoid 60i stuff if you can.

Both the 24pN and 24pA can be made to be native 24 frames with no interlace fields at all. It's all in how the NLE you are using deals with it.

Okay, but the 35mm telecinied stuff looked horrible when i went to dvd. After I removed pulldown with cinetools and relaid on 24 timeline and mped2'd it to dvd it looked great.

Yes, you're right, I could use 60i on same timeline - I just wanted to give it more of a 24p feel - that's why the Nattress.

MichaelP - I'll use FCP, but I'll also be use 60i converted to 24p.

Now... I also read that if 24pN is converted to native 24 frames it's a little softer then if you shoot 24pA.

Appreciate your input guys.
