GH2 How many mins of 1080 24p/176mbs GH2, can you get on SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro - SDHC

it's a variable bitrate codec. there's not predetermined amount of time you can get on any card. so if you have 32 gig, you might get 10-20 mins. it just depends on what you're recording and how much detail there is.

I don't have a 32gb card yet but to give you a rough idea my 16gb cards show and record 11min of recording time (24H) with the 176 AQ3 patch regardless of high or low detail shots. A 32 will obviously get more.

As CaR3o said it IS variable bit rate but, if you go by what the counter says, a freshly formatted Sandisk 32gb Extreme Pro, shooting in 24p with the 176mb reAQuainted patch, shows 23m47s.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately the size of the card does not matter since the largest file is 4gigs and these hacks do not yet span reliably. The current card's file system has a limit to the largest file of 4gigs. Panasonic writes multiple files to achieve larger videos, but most of the time the recording fails when the first 4gig is reached or fails when the second 4gig file is reached. In other words more than 4 gigs is not reliable... Al

Your statement is a bit misleading. Not once have I encountered a recording failure during an entire recording session that filled up my entire 16gb Sandisk. Most of us are well aware of the multiple files but that doesn't matter in FCP log and transfer. Just for shiz and giggles I took that 176 AQ3 hack and dropped the bitrates down to 60000000 (24H) and 50000000 (24L) to achieve a reliable max of 62.9mbps (averaging 57.6) using my slower Patriot LX Class 10 cards (supposedly slower write speeds than the sandisks) which provided a continuous recording time of 32 minutes, spanning the files into 4.29, 4.29, 4.29, 2.84gb sizes. Maybe I'm just getting lucky with my GH2s but to me this has proven that at least on my cameras, the hacks are spanning just fine.

I am happy to hear your experience. The PersonalView site is full of different experiences. Videographers at weddings and other important shoots having their cameras stop in the middle of important recordings. My comment of "unreliable" was based on those numerous comments and an admittance from the key players there that this is a problem that needs to be solved... Al
