How many HVX users in SF?

I was just curious how many HVX users are out there in the San Francisco bay area?
Maybe we could all get together and do Bay to Breakers. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Bay to Breakers is a little 7 mile race or marathon. I've done it a couple times on my skateboard and its fun. There are also lots of strang looking people in the race that dress up and there are some floats. Along with people running 7 miles naked. Of course I have never seen any hot chicks doing this so no one too excited. Its a pretty big event. The race...not the naked people.

I'm in berkeley,

last time I ran B2B I was 10 years old, it would be fun to do it again, but I'm probably too much of a fatass right now.

marathon training, need somathat marathon training...

but we should all get coffee (well, tea for me) anyway just so we know who else is around, and can possibly set up a P2 Card "low rate rental" pool.

I'm down in Monterey.

Just Got HVX and Gates Underwater Housing. I'll put it all to the test next week Topside and underwater in Arctic North of Norway (Polar Bears, Seals, Arctic Fox) for a Nat Geo Show.

I'll post about how it goes.

Turing, you can't get to the end of the first mile ;-)

Maybe you can shoot some funny and naked runers with your HVX.

Some of those naked runners might cause the CCDs to burn out of the HVX and your eyes to light on fire.

Nothing a stack of ND9's won't fix. Besides, if we need to, we can use those moons as bounce:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Nice to meet you all!
I checked out some of your links. Sorry I don't have one to post. Yet.
Steve, nice reel.
Alex D, nice site.
Alex B, nice idea.
MCSHYD, nice forum. I've been thinking about such a forum. It looks like you haven't had much traffic lately though. We (the community) should do something about that. I thought about posting on CL, but then you'd get a bunch of wannabes buzzing around. BTW, are you the one that posted on CL looking for local filmmakers to write articles?

chakamonkey!
I didn't realize you were from SF. Never looked at your member location. Let's all bow our heads and pay homage to our very own scene file frontiersman. Thanks!

This is a funny thread.
I have 3 HVX's at KRON-TV...and I'm the producer of the Bay To Breakers.
Do I win a prize?
The race is 7.5 miles long and runs from the Embarcedero to the Great Highway at Ocean Beach. I'ts been around since 1912 and set a Guiness Book of World Records (1986?) as the largest footrace in the world with over 100,000 runners. I shoot it with 8 live cameras...none of them HVX 200s.

over here in berkeley !! didn't know we had so many HVX's around ... i rent HVX's .... i'm going RED #103 ....

WOW!

So many Bay Area people !

Is there any interest to start up a DVX/HVX user group? I work at BAVC in the City and tested out DVX user group. About 6 months ago. I've convinced one of the directors at BAVC to try to buy an HVX for the facilities. Crossing fingers.

Any interest in a SF user group for DVX/HVX users? We got space and computers (gobs and gobs of computers and equipment) at BAVC to host. Facilities are open to host.

Thanks... I pushed it hard for a moment, posted on craigslist and on the bavc forum and a couple other places, and the traffic you see now is the fruit of those efforts. *sigh*

and no i didnt post about filmmakers to write articles, but I definitely saw that one the other day...haha go contractors!

dillont: I've taken classes at bavc on a companies dime, and it was a great experience. Although i have to say that the quality of the class was mostly based on the quality of the teacher, so it had its ups and downs. I'm interested in joining an hvx group at bavc (hell i live at 22@bryant...)

Mostly though, I'd like to take more classes, and can't really throw down for them. *sigh*

*head explodes*
