How many hours are too many?

Looking into used DVX100a's and was wondering what you guy thought too many hours logged on it were too many to buy it second hand. I'm looking at a camera w/ 125 hrs on it.

What starts happening to the heads at this point? Can someone use a car analogy here.... 125hrs=125k miles on a car perhaps? And let's say the DVX=Honda Civic.

Don't worry about head hours too much. Worry about how and where the camera was used (what were the shooting conditions, etc). 125 hours isn't much if it wasn't abused.

Recording heads life is about 1000 hours, so, don't worry about this. If you use always Panasonic MQ tapes and you maintain your camera correctly, you're able to use your DVX100A over 1000 hours.
