How important is the LCD screen?

I have an opportunity to buy a DVX that works fine except for the LCD screen. I haven't used one of these cameras before and I'm wondering if it's still fully capable/controlable with just the eyepiece.

Would you buy a DVX in this condition if it was a decent price?

Well, you can use just fine and control everything

You can use it and do everything without the pullout screen. that being said i almost always use the pull out screen because its more convenient. Its a pretty old cam now so you should be able to find a decent used one with working lcd.

To be honest the viewfinder on the DVX is as good as useless, it's quite low res and very small compared to what you'll find on a lot of other cameras, the LCD is pretty much essential if you want to be sure you've got your focus dialled in properly.

I use the lcd every time I use the camera. if the lcd broke on mine, I would try to sell it and get another dvx. that's how important it is to me.
so don't get it. (unless it's like $300 or something)

I wouldn't say the LCD is useless. Its definitely useful. I rather use the LCD then the viewfinder.
