FS7: How good is the FS7 1080?

Does the FS7 use an internal downsample to all its benefits in the 1-60P 1080?

This would reduce noise, give more accurate color and have a nice and pleasing sharpness if done right. Anyone shooting in 1080? For me it seems impractical to acquire in 4K (storage, editing, downsample in post etc.) and I also tend to dislike the sharp look.

Thank you,

I guess most people are shooting a mixture of HD and UHD etc. I have to say CineEI Sgamut3.cine SLog3 HD is producing some of the most pleasing HD images I've ever shot. The FS7 is marvellous in 4K or HD.

The FS7 doesn't look overly sharp in 4k. In fact if you edit in a 1080p timeline you hardly can tell any difference between clips in 4k and 1080p. I find the FS7 to have very highly resolved imaged without any sharpening. One can argue that it's to clean at native ISO but noise is always easily added.

I have shot a feature in 4K and shoot daily jobs in 1080P. 4K was useful for reframing/scaling, but that aside, I would not hesitate to shoot a feature in 1080P or 2K. I know from experience it will hold up well and look just like downscaled 4K would, even projected on a huge screen. I've been through a progression of cameras (HVX200, AF100, FS700 and now FS7) and feel like I've reached a point where I can shoot with this for years without worrying about something in it's price range drastically outperforming it.

Nice 1080p overall, like an EX1R with better DR and shallow DOF (take care of macroblocks from XAVC-I).
But not as sharp as C300 or Blackmagic Pocket, with their native 4K downscale.
Fortunately, less aliasing and moire issues with FS7 !
