how far can one go with color correcting

like a dope i didnt white balance a re-shoot. it's a close up of my actress which of course does not match the first footage, it is orange in color while the original is pretty much perfect in terms of skin tone.

i use speed edit to edit my footage. there is a cool feature that automatically matches the color of your "bad' shot to the color of your "good" shot. It worked very well. but how far can one go with color correcting? how deep into the image can you go?

examples?

It depends on the amount of color sampling in the footage (4:1:1, 4:2:0, 4:2:2) and how much correction is needed.

There ARE limits and you WILL see when the limits are reached.

.

4:2:2. HVX200.

Now Im really curious. can someone point way to where I can learn why this is important, and about color correcting in general and what 4:2:2 actually means

thanks
