How Does The FX1 Achieve 16:9?

The XL2 accomplishes by playing with the physical geometry of the chip. How does the FX1 do this? Is it a similar method?

I beleive it has 16:9 shaped chips.

The Xl2 uses a 16x9-shaped subset of its 4x3 chip.

The FX1 actually has chips that are shaped 16x9.
