as the title says, can't seem to find it in the manual, about to order barry's book but does anyone know how to do this?
thanks

So what would be the disadvantage in purchasing a 151 over a 150 here in the states?

Does it deliver the same options in NTSC mode as the 150 or is it limited in some way?

Wow - I had no idea... I assumed one was pal only, one was ntsc only.

Seeing as one of them can switch, would it be possible with firmware to make both of them switchable, or are the insides different somehow?

Otherwise, as a previous poster said, I have no idea why they don't sell the 151 in the US. It seems to be an obviously better choice.

Ah well.

The European versions cost more, and if you wanted to get one there to use here, you'd have no warranty coverage at all.

You can upgrade the HPX170 or HPX300 into a switchable version, which would match the HPX171 or HPX301. There is no upgrade path for the HMC150.

As for NTSC or PAL, the HMC150 is NTSC-only, the HMC152 is PAL-only. Only Europe gets the HMC151, which does both.

I wonder if Panasonic already has a switchable version, why it does not offer it worldwide? Does Pana have to pay some royalties or something for each scanning rate? Don't think so.

Also, the HMC40/45 is 60Hz only, the HMC41 is 50Hz only, not multiscan.

The JVC HM100 and the HM700 are switchable out of the box.

But, technically, would it be possible to put in some firmware that would make the HMC150 switchable? Or are the insides different?

Don't know. The conversion happens at the factory, we haven't been told whether it's software or hardware or some combination.

Bound to be software as it would be stupid to make different hardware when a software flag could do the job. Just another way of extracting more cash out of people.
