How do you shoot single frames for animation?

Hi all:

Is there some sort of setting, hack or methodology for shooting single frames manually? I am supposed to shoot some pencil tests from some classic 1930s cartoons tomorrow and I would ideally like to capture just a frame or two of each, rather than capturing 2 seconds, then having to go back and manually edit the single frames for those clips.

Anyone have any ideas on how best to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Hey Dan,

Refer to pages 47 & 106 in the HVX manual. I have only shot in interval mode 1 frame per second for time lapse. It seems to me that you set the camera to ONE SHOT mode, select the amount of frames to record and that's it! If you are required to set an interval you could select one of the longer times and just start and stop. Sorry I can not test that for you at this time. I looked for any info about using the remote to start and stop while in ONE SHOT mode but nothing indicates that you can't. So, hopefully that will work. Be sure to set the OPERATION TYPE in SCENE FILE to VIDEO CAM. Also, ONE SHOT, among others, is only available in 1080i/60i, 720P/60P, and 480i/60i and 30P recording formats.

Good luck and Happy Animating!

Does the HVX keep all the settings constant (white balance, etc.) over some extended period of time? I read that some digital still cameras sometimes don't, even when set to manual mode.
