how do you set a user clip name?

Can anyone give me the steps to set the user clip name? the manual is not very clear on this.

I was struggling with this as well but Barry's guide and page 23 of Vol. 2 of the manual cleared it up. I used the AVCCAM Viewer from Panny's site to edit and load the User Clip Name info. All of it worked fine and my clips are now being assigned a custom name with a counter, BUT and a huge BUT, it seems these newly assigned clip names can only be read by the AVCCAM Viewer which is useless to me. In FCS2 Log & Transfer, Im still getting the lame "Clip #1" etc etc., I realize I can custom name and counter these clips in L&T for every import I do and that's great and all. What I was hoping for is the same thing I have with my EX1 and every DSLR I've ever used. A rolling sequential master clip name/number that doesnt reset after every card erase. I know there is that crazy 64 digit "Global clip" but that's useless as well.

If I sound frustrated it's because I'am. This seems like a simple feature that most camera's would have. Any advice would be appreciated, if there is even a solution?.

Does Premiere CS5 recognize "User Clip Names"?
It does for P2, but I haven't figured out how to make it do it for AVCCAM. Which is weird because the metadata is exactly the same, so ... either it does it and I don't know how to make it do it, or it'd be a pretty minor fix.

That's good to hear because if one can log clips this way for editing... how amazing is that! (I hate logging clips into bins manually by looking for slates)

Well, not only that, but if you're using Raylight with P2, it can automatically log the clips into different bins in FCP, based on the metadata. I don't know if he's planning on making a Raylight for AVCCAM, but if he did, that'd be pretty cool.
