How Do You Remove Inner Lens Hood

I attach my UV filter and (separately) polarizing filter to threads on inner lens hood per instructions on page 16 of HMC40 PDF file. In case I want to attach a wide angle lens I understand I need to remove inner lens hood. Just for kicks I tried removing inner lens hood, but not clear what part comes off--do you twist the knurled "inner" part or the "outer" part that the outer lens hood attaches to? Neither part wants to twist easily so before proceeding thought I should ask--page 16 not real clear but it looks like it is the part that the outer lens hood attaches to that you are supposed to twist off?

No problem removing outer lens hood.

The knurled inner part. Comes off just like a filter, if memory serves me right.

I had trouble with this too myself.

I had to don a rubber glove, grip the metal grooved part, and forcibly twist counter-clockwise until the inner lens hood came loose. Be careful and good luck!

Gentlemen, Thank you for prompt advice---I am always more reluctant to apply more force to plastic components vs metal until I confirm I am doing things correctly. In that regard the HDMI, USB, Mic cover on the HMC40 always makes me nervous as I pry away using the little tab at the top.
